Abstract
TheWABE-2Dmodelaimsattheproblemofcoolabilityofdegradedcorematerialduringasevereaccidentinalightwaterreactor(LWR)anddescribesthetransientboil-offandquenchingbehaviorofdebrisbeds.ItisbeingdevelopedintheframeoftheKESScodesystem,whichisconsideredtodescribetheprocessesofcoreheatup,melting,degradationandrelocationtothelowerplenumaswellasthesubsequentbehavior.ThemodelsdevelopedinthisframearebeingintegratedintheGermansystemcodeATHLET-CD.
