Abstract :
Intheframeofdevelopmentalassessmentandcodevalidation,apost-testcalculationofthetestQUENCH-07wasperformedwithATHLET-CD.ThesystemcodeATHLET-CDisbeingdevelopedforbest-estimatesimulationofaccidentswithcoredegradationandforevaluationofaccidentmanagementprocedures.Itappliesthedetailedmodelsofthethermal-hydrauliccodeATHLETinanefficientcouplingwithdedicatedmodelsforcoredegradationandfissionproductsbehaviour.ThefirststepoftheworkwasthesimulationofthetestQUENCH-07applyingthemodellingoptionsrecommendedinthecodeUserʹsManual(referencecalculation).Theglobalresultsofthiscalculationshowedagoodagreementwiththemeasureddata.Thiscalculationwascomplementedbyasensitivityanalysisinordertoinvestigatetheinfluenceofacombinedvariationofcodeinputparametersonthesimulationofthemainphenomenaobservedexperimentally.Resultsofthissensitivityanalysisindicatethatthemainexperimentalmeasurementslaywithintheuncertaintyrangeofthecorrespondingcalculatedvalues.Amongthemaincontributorstotheuncertaintyofcoderesultsaretheheattransfercoefficientduetoforcedconvectiontosuperheatedsteam–argonmixture,thethermalconductivityoftheshroudisolationandtheexternalheaterrodresistance.UncertaintiesonmodellingofB4Coxidationdonotaffectsignificantlythetotalcalculatedhydrogenreleaserates.
