Abstract :
CHFlook-uptablesareusedwidelyforthepredictionofthecriticalheatflux(CHF).TheCHFlook-uptableisbasicallyanormalizeddatabankforavertical8mmwater-cooledtube.The2006CHFlook-uptableisbasedonadatabasecontainingmorethan30,000datapointsandprovidesCHFvaluesat24pressures,20massfluxes,and23qualities,coveringthefullrangeofconditionsofpracticalinterest.Inaddition,the2006CHFlook-uptableaddressesseveralconcernswithrespecttopreviousCHFlook-uptablesraisedintheliterature.Themajorimprovementsofthe2006CHFlook-uptableare: • Anenhancedqualityofthedatabase(improvedscreeningprocedures,removalofclearlyidentifiedoutliersandduplicatedata). • Anincreasednumberofdatainthedatabase(anadditionof33recentdatasets). • AsignificantlyimprovedpredictionofCHFinthesubcooledregionandthelimitingqualityregion. • Anincreasednumberofpressureandmassfluxintervals(thusincreasingtheCHFentriesby20%comparedtothe1995CHFlook-uptable). • Animprovedsmoothnessofthelook-uptable(thesmoothnesswasquantifiedbyasmoothnessindex). Adiscussionoftheimpactofthesechangesonthepredictionaccuracyandtablesmoothnessispresented.The2006CHFlook-uptableischaracterizedbyasignificantimprovementinaccuracyandsmoothness.
