Abstract :
Inthispaper,aunifiedtimedependentmodelforlowcyclefatigueandratchettingfailurehasbeendevelopedbasedonthemicrocrackgrowth.ThemodelutilizedfracturemechanicstheoryusingJ-integralundercreep–fatigueloadingandassumedthatthemicrocrackpropagationdeterminesthefailurelife.Themicrocrackratesareseparatedintothreeparts:(1)thetimeindependentfatiguecrackgrowth,(2)thetimedependentfatiguecrackgrowthand(3)thetimedependentratchettingcrackgrowth.Thecyclicfailurecriteriaunderdifferentloadingconditionswerederivedfromthemicrocrackgrowth.Somesimplifiedmodelswereobtainedandtheycancharacterizethetimedependentlowcycleandratchettingfailureliveswithholdtimeandloadingfrequencyeffects.
