Abstract :
ThispaperprovidesacomprehensivedescriptionofthepowergenerationdevelopmentinrecentyearsinChina,includingtheincreasingtrendofinstalledcapacityandgeneratedelectricity,thecurrentsituationoftechnologymixandprimaryenergyconsumption,andtheenlargementofpowergridscale.Thispaperanalysesthepossiblereasonstothenationwidepowershortagesince2002,includingtheacceleratinggrowthofelectricity-intensiveindustries,theincreasingofresidentialelectricityconsumptionduetotherisingincomelevel,andthefuelsupplyshortage.Usingofaregressivemodel,thispaperanalysesthesignificantimpactofelectricity-intensiveindustriesontheelectricitydemand.Assumingthescenariosofeconomydevelopmentandelectricitydemand,thispaperprospectsthepowergenerationdevelopmentinthefuture,anddescribesthedevelopmentroadmaptoachievethegoalproposedbytheChinaʹscentralgovernment.
