  • Abstract
    TheAsociaciónNuclearAscó-Vandellòs(ANAV)istheconsortiumresponsiblefortheAscóandVandellòs-IIreactors.ThereactorsareWestinghouse-design3-loopPWRswithanapproximateelectricalpowerof1000MW.InordertooperatethereactorsANAVpreparedanIntegralPlantModelforeachplant.Themodelisusedforsupportingplantoperationandcontrolfromthepointofviewofsafetyandcompetitiveness.TheTechnicalUniversityofCatalonia(UPC)hasbeenworkingwithANAVinordertoestablish,qualifyandusetheseBestEstimate(BE)models.ThispaperdevelopsaspecificuseoftheAscóplantmodelforoperationsupportandtriestoclarifyagroupofscenariosrelatedtothetotallossoffeedwater(FW)andthecorrespondingFeed&Bleed(F&B)recoveryprocedure.ThestudycharacterizestheprocedurewithdifferentcalculationsandprovidesresultsthathavebecomehelpfulinestablishingtheimpactofpartialavailabilityofPowerOperatedReliefValves(PORVs)andHPIStrains,themaximumtimeforstartingtheprocedureandsomeconsiderationsonheatsinkrecovery.TheuseoftheBEmodelprovidesaconsistentoverviewofthefinalproblem.Theresultsoftheanalysisareafirstapproachforoperationsupport.
