Abstract :
Theanalysisofbeyonddesignbasisaccidents(BDBA)isanessentialcomponentofthesafetyconceptofnuclearpowerplants(NPP).Goaloftheanalysisistoachieveasetofactionsaimedtopreventtheescalationintoasevereaccident,tomitigateconsequencesofasevereaccident,andtoachievealongtermcontrollablestateoftheNPP.Thispaperpresentsananalyticalproceduretooptimizethetimingofoperatorinterventions.Theprocedureisdemonstratedbasedonfoursetsofparameters,first,parameterswhichdefinetheoperatoractionsarechosen.Second,parameterswhichdefinethesystemavailabilityarechosen.Third,parameterswhichdefineinacontinuouswaythestatusoftheplantarechosen.Finally,onelooksforafunctionaldependencyoftheaccidentmanagement(AM)-parametersandtheparametersdescribingtheplantstatus.Onceafunctioncouldbefound,thisfunctionis“optimized”inthesensethattheAM-parametersarevariedtofindaoptimaloverallconditionfortheplant.Inthefirstpart,thepaperpresentstheanalyticalprocedureinageneralway,inthesecondpart,aninitiatingeventischosen.Theprocedureisappliedtoastationblackout(SBO)transient,andasoperatoractionsecondarysidebleedandfeed,followedbyprimarysidebleedandfeed,isforeseen.Asresult,theoptimaltimingtoinitiatebothactionsisachieved.
