Abstract :
ABSTRACT: Satureja bachtiarica Bunge is a perennial medicinal plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family and endemic species in Iran. In order to study genetic diversity among and between five population including forty-six plants of S. bachtiarica. Genetic relations of these populations studied using twelve and eleven ISSR and RAPD markers, respectively. Results showed that amplification of genomic DNA using RAPD primers yielded 74 fragments, among which 71 were polymorphic with an average of 6.45 polymorphic fragments per primer. On the other hand, ISSR primers produced 102 bands, from which 100 were polymorphic with an average of 8.3 polymorphic fragments per primer. Analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) showed that a larger proportion of genetic variation (79%) resided within populations, while only a small proportion (21%) resided among populations. The results showed that both RAPD and ISSR markers to assess genetic diversity in S.bachtiarica are useful and can to be efficient for detect polymorphic regions, the genetic distances estimated and management of these germplasm.
