Measuring Iranian provinces efficiency in meaty Poultry production by use of Data Envelopment Analysis

ABSTRACT:This paper studied the efficiency of 28 Iranian provinces in meaty Poultry production using Data Envelopment Analysis. For this end, raw data related to production in 28 provinces in the years of 2007 have been gathered and then three kind of overall technical, pure technical and scale efficiencies have been measured using CCR, BCC, NIRS and Additive models and Then return to scale zones specified. Empirical results show that between 28 provinces, only 6 units (Booshehr, Zanjan, Ghazvin, Golestan, Mazandaran and Hormozgan) have been efficient and others have variety degree of inefficiency. In this way poorest efficiency (0.66) was related to Sistan & Baloochestan province. Thereafter virtual units related to inefficient units have been identified. Result show that most require adjustments in the section workers (0.62), feed expense (0.33) and incubation capacity (0.33) is for Sistan & Baloochestan and in section drug expenses (0.46) is related to Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari province.
