Abstract :
ABSTRACT:The objectives of this study were to determine the energy consumption and evaluation of relationship between output and input for wheat production in the Gorve country, Kordestan province of Iran. Data were collected from 40 farmers using a face–to–face questionnaire method. The majority of farmers in the surveyed region were growing wheat. The results revealed that wheat production consumed a total of 42.998 G J ha–1 and output was 97.935 G J ha–1. Electricity has the highest share by 26.135 G J ha–1 followed by total fertilizers and diesel fuel. Econometric model evaluation showed that contribution of diesel fuel is significant at the 1% level. The elasticities of total fertilizers and electricity energies were estimated as 0.19 and 0.06, respectively (all significant at the 5% level). The impact of human labor and machinery energies on yield were estimated statistically insignificant with a negative sign. All regression coefficients of IDE, NRE and RE forms were positive and significant (p < 1%). The regression coefficients of DE was also significant (p < 5%). The impacts of DE, IDE, RE and NRE were estimated in the range of 0.19–1.02.
