Abstract :
In this paper, we present some numerical techniques for the modeling of multicomponent gas flow in porous media. We feature the mixed finite element method over quadrilaterals as a solver to the non-Darcy flow equation, and a conservative Godunov-type scheme for the mass balance equations. The Godunov-type method is a higher-order scheme and requires a linear reconstruction of the solution profile using appropriately-chosen limiters for the slope. The mixed formulation for the flow system enables an efficient and natural treatment of various well-conditions.
