Abstract :
The purpose of the research was studying the relationship between emotional intelligence and
self-efficacy with job satisfaction among high school teachers. The study population consisted
of all high school teachers in Kermanshah in 90-91 academic school year and the number was
1451 persons, among whom 300 persons, including 142 males and 158 females, were selected
by multistage cluster sampling. Research tools included Shrinkʹs Emotional Intelligence
questionnaire, Shererʹs Self-Efficacy and the Job Descriptive Index respectively. Descriptive
statistics and Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression method has been used for
data analysis. Results showed that the correlation between emotional intelligence and job
satisfaction, self-efficacy and job satisfaction is significant in error level 0/01. The stepwise
regression showed that among the predictive variables, only self-efficacy in the rate of 4/4
percent is a predictor for the variance in job satisfaction. Among components of emotional
intelligence, self awareness was the only component which was able to explain and predict the
variance in job satisfaction. These results indicate that the more EI -especially with the
component of self awareness-and self-efficacy teachers have, the more job satisfaction they
have.
