Abstract :
ABSTRACT:Vortex tube is separator structureon bed togovern sediment to move at the beginning of conveyingwater channel. This structure with small size and easy installation, economical and can be exploited continuously. Optimum design of vortex tube involves finding dimensions which led trap efficiency increasesdramatically, and water loss is considered low as well.In this study, a laboratory flume with 180°bend, with the ratio R/B=3, and intake channelat position of 115°, with an angle of 45 degree has been made.More over it has been tried to study influence variable parameters such as diameter, width Opening tube and angle of insertion tube under different hydraulic conditions.The results of this study indicate that of Sedimentation entrance to intakedepends on the flow Froude number inintake and inmain channel (FRin/FRch), so that, increasing ofthis ratio, cause to the amount of sediment entering rate to the intake will be increaseddirectly. Besides whenincreasing OfFroude number near the vortex tube has been occur, trap efficiency occasionallydecreases eventually. According to the angular position of the vortex tube, the high rate of trapefficiency will be seen in the differentFroude numbers. The amount of water loss move down trend directly depends on increasing Froude number. So, that Maximum percentage of water loss about 30% for the Froude number of 0.5will take place, and a minimum range of 5.4 percent for the Froude number equal 1.2 is illustrated.
