Abstract :
An experiment was carried out at the Teaching and Research Farm of Rivers State University of and Technology, Port Harcourt to evaluate the enzymatic and hormonal reactions cockerels exposed to crude oil contaminated diets. One hundred and twenty growing cockerel were allocated into five treatment groups (A, B, C, D & E) of 24 birds each, and replicated three times with eight (8) birds per replicate. The birds were fed with graded crude oil levels of 5, 10, 15 & 20 ml/ kg feed respective, while group A served as the control (without crude oil). At the end of 12 weeks feeding trial, blood sample were collected for enzyme and hormonal assay. The results show that the serum hormone and enzymes levels were significantly (P < 0.05) increased cockerels exposed.
