Abstract
The largest arcs in PG(r, q) have length q + 1 and they are classical, if 11 ⩽ q ⩽ 19, q ≠ 16 and 1 ⩽ r ⩽ q − 2 or if q = 16 and 4 ⩽ r ⩽ q − 5.
