Abstract
Condensations of nonsymmetrical or symmetrical β-diketones and unprotected sugars in aq NaHCO3 soln were explored. C-glucosyl and C-maltosyl derivatives bearing lipophilic residue of 8 or 11 carbon atoms were prepared efficiently using this one-step procedure. The amphiphilic properties of these compounds were demonstrated by measuring their CMC.
