This paper builds a basic theory of “Carbon–Money Exchange” in which carbon as currency in natureʹs household (ecosystems) and money as currency in humankindʹs household (economy) are exchanged just like in a foreign exchange. The simple chemical equation below makes it possible

The left-hand side represents the work of plants to remove atmospheric CO2. The right-hand side represents the work of humans as fossil fuel consumers to produce it. The exchange of the two currencies is possible by copying the fossil fuel market. The paper concludes that this new exchange can automatically contain global warming and deforestation, replacing onerous emissions trading. Moreover, it could revolutionize the conventional economy, creating counter-capitalism, or “carbonism”.
