Abstract :
In this paper, the difficulties encountered when applying the time-domain free surface Green function method to surface ships with large flare is further studied. It is found that the common panel method using transient free surface Green function for a non-wallsided floating body does not satisfy the mean-value theorem of definite integrals at the near water surface panels. By introducing a vertical surface which encloses the hull surface in the fluid and using Green theorem, a new time-domain integral equation method for a flared type ship is developed. Numerical results for three-dimensional large flared body with the new method are given in this paper,comparison with the result of common panel method demonstrates the effectiveness of the new method.
