Abstract :
Based on the crude analysis of one-dimensional flow and slender body theory, this paper offers a method to calculate the linear hydrodynamic derivatives for ships moving obliquely along the center-line of a narrow channel with the viscous influence being suitably accounted for. The method is extended to the shallow water case without banks. The calculated results are in satisfactory agreement with existing experimental data.
