The international conference on bovine spongiform encephalopathy and food safety, April 17–18, 2002

The International Forum for Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies and Food Safety (TAFS) recently held a conference entitled The International Conference on Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy and Food Safety. The aims of this conference were (1) to summarize the most current scientific knowledge on Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and other Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSEs), as well as related information from the food industry, the social sciences, and consumers groups, and (2) to facilitate a forum for extensive discussion among all the stakeholders.
