Abstract :
X-ray photoelectron spectra of 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl oxypiperidine 1-oxyl, a stable free radical, were obtained. The surface composition determined from the spectral data compared favourably with the molecular formula C9H16NO2. The experimentally measured ESCA shifts of C 1s, N 1s and O 1s correlated with Paulingʹs charge on the atoms.
