Abstract :
Two types of thin film systems on the basis of polycyclic organic compounds (terthiophene and poly-2-tertbutyl-5-vinyl-tetrazole) are studied with respect to the formation of nanometer scale structures due to voltage pulses in a scanning tunneling microscope (STM). The possible nature of STM stimulated effects is discussed from the point of view of the tip induced electrical field action upon chemical processes on the surface and in the solid phase.
