Abstract :
Dye-sensitized indium oxide (In2O3) thick films were prepared by spin coating on ITO glass substrates and their photoelectronic properties were studied. A semitransparent aluminum electrode was vacuum deposited on the In2O3 film, and the photovoltaic effect and alcohol sensing behavior of the sandwich cells were examined. Two kinds of dyes, rose bengale and brilliant green, were used as the dopant pigments. Rectification behavior was observed in the photo and dark current-voltage characteristics for undoped and dye-sensitized cells. The doping of rose bengale and brilliant green increased and decreased the current, respectively, both in the dark and under light illumination. The rose bengale doped cell showed a moderate current decrease with adsorption of alcohols.
