Abstract :
The monolayer micrographite films, of which the lateral dimensions are in the order of nanometer, have been grown on TiC 111.-faceted and TiC 410.surfaces by chemical vapor deposition. Diffraction spots due to the graphite lattice have been observed for TiC 111.-faceted surfaces, but not for 410.. Angle-resolved ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy ARUPS. spectra of micrographite on the faceted surface have shown a series of peaks due to the p states of graphite. On the 410. surface, quantized p branches of graphite ribbon with the narrow terrace of 0.886 nm appeared. Any other state characteristics of the micrographite, such as edge state near Fermi level, was not observed for both systems. q1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
