On the interaction of oxygen with a Cs-monolayer-covered Si 100/surface

The initial decrease of the work function caused by the oxygen adsorption on a Cs-monolayer-covered Si 100. is explained on the basis of the dipole theory. It is shown that the negative oxygen ions sitting on the cesium overlayer induce the extra polarization of Csq ions, which results in the reduction of the system work function. q1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
