Abstract
Following a recently suggested electron gas density method for intermolecular potentials between inert gas atoms and
solid surfaces, potentials have been calculated for inert gas atoms interacting with carbon atoms of the surface of graphite.
Isothermic adsorption coefficients were then calculated as virial coefficients using atom–atom addition potentials. The
results obtained were compared with experimental findings for isothermic adsorption finding good agreement for both values
