Abstract :
By scribing narrow line grooves on a metal sample surface with short laser pulses having a scanned pulse width from 14 ps to 40 fs, and then examining the pattern of debris, we demonstrate a simple method for determining the critical pulse width in laser material processing beyond damage threshold. q2000 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
