Abstract :
The XPS and XAES spectra of the cadmium seleniophosphate (CdPSe3) single crystals have been measured, at room
temperature, using Al Ka (1486.6 eV) X-rays source. The analyzed core level XPS spectra of the CdPSe3 compositional
atoms have emphasized the absence of non-equivalent atoms in this compound. The cadmium 4d levels show a localized
character according to the so-called transition-metal weakly interacting model. As regards the XAES spectra, the selenium
L23M45M45 and cadmium M45N45N45 Auger series have been investigated and the nature of the CdÿSe bond has been
analyzed by calculating the Cd modi®ed Auger parameter in CdPSe3. The deduced Cd modi®ed Auger parameter shift agrees
well with the CdPSe3 energy bandgap Eg. # 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
