Analysis of Bearing Faults Based on Singular Points Detection

A new method of bearing fault detection is investigated based on a wavelet denoising procedure and analyzing singular points of the input vibration signal. The proposed algorithm is compared to the recently-proposed Morlet fault detection algorithm for real data. It is shown that this algorithm generates comparable results with much less computations. This makes the proposed algorithm more appropriate for on-line processing of defected bearings.
