Methyltriphenylphosphonium peroxydisulfate (MTPPP) was synthesized by treating methyltriphenylphosphonium bromide
with potassium peroxydisulfate in aqueous solution. This reagent was used as a suitable and efficient reagent for the cleavage of
oximes, phenylhydrazones and 2,4-dinitro phenylhydrazones to their corresponding carbonyl compounds under non-aqueous
condition.
