The Algerian economy, like other oil economies, is highly dependent on the hydrocarbon sector as agenerator of foreign currency through export operations as well as a sector financed by the state treasurythrough its large revenues. However, this sector is characterized by instability because the prices of thesematerials are determined in the global market, Financial crises of the state whenever fuel prices drop. This isevidenced by the oil crisis in 1986 and the low oil prices in 2014 and 2015.The government should seek resources outside the hydrocarbon sector. The best way to secure this is toincrease economic diversification by encouraging sectors that could be alternative sectors for the hydrocarbonssector and the most important sectors that have the potential to be alternatives to the hydrocarbons sector. InAlgeria, the agriculture, industry, and tourism sector, for the great potential it has. Therefore, it is necessary tostudy the extent of economic diversification in Algeria, evaluate the various efforts that have been undertaken,and try to present ideas that can help activate the process of economic diversification in Algeria to createsustainable economic development outside the hydrocarbons sector.
