La figure de l’Autre dans les récits des voyageurs français du XIXe siècle : cas de Guy de Maupassant et de Alphonse Daudet

The accounts of travel writers who constitute one of the contexts of the emergence of the French-speaking Maghreb literature remain one of the inexhaustible resources in which any researcher can draw from to find the unknown and little-known of the XIX century. This article attempts, in a purely narrative approach, to read and to rediscover the image as well as the representation of Algeria and its inhabitants in the writings of these travelers.
