Desire and Paralysis in James Joyce s Dubliners and Mohammed Dib s La grande maison

The following paper attempts a comparative study between the novel of the Algerian writer Mohammed Dib La grande maison and James Joyce’s collection of short stories Dubliners. Even though critics have not yet undertaken this task, we think that the similarities between the two fictions are striking enough in order to prompt a comparative analysis. The similarities may stem from a possible influence exerted by Joyce on his Algerian counterpart.
