the present paper is concerned with the agricultural activities and irrigation projects in Al-Diwaniya Governorate (then called Liwa Al- diwaniya) during the period 1945-1958). Al-Diwaniya was considered an important agricultural centre in iraq due to its wide fertile lands and its excellence in the plantation of specific kinds of crops. The availability of water supply and channels. an‎d its strategic position in the middle spot of the country which created convenient marketing potential for this Governorate. However to the end of the royal reign in productivity due to a number of reasons such us neglection of wide fertile lands using old traditional methods of plantation or growing crops, limited use of agricultural machines and chemical fertilizers and and the administration which had bad result on the agricultural conditions in Iraq in general and in Al-Diwaniya in particular.
