چكيده عربي :
Speech act theory operates on the mam belief that language functions primarily for communication ,i.e., one of the crucial functions of language is the communicative purpose which is social or phatic function in constituting and conforming interpersonal relationships. The theory as a generic term goes on the claim that the reasons for the functions of or the communicative intentions can be classified. So every kind of reason, intention or function is known as a speech act. Because various speech acts are suggested to perform different functions, many proposals of classifying speech act verbs, mainly Austin s classification, Searle s classification and Bach and Hamish s classification have been suggested. Austin seems to be the first pioneer to have noticed the importance of a system of classification of speech act, and .. then Searle, Austin s student, in his relation to Austin seems to have worked out such a classification more explicit and one of the most prominent work of his classification, is based on twelve significant dimensions. Finally Bach and Hamish come later on with their own classification (mixed classification), they borrow the terms constatives, verdictives and commissives from Austin and also borrow from Searle the term directives. But they adopt the term acknowledgment for accepting, apologies, greetings, congratulations etc
