Jesus’ dialogue with God at the end of Surat Al-Ma’idah - an analytical study

This paper is an attempt to reveal monotheistic significance of Jesus’ answer contained in the last verses of surat Al-Maida (116-120) and in corresponding texts of the Gospels. The study investigates some commentators’ evidence, in which they deny Jesus’ intercession for those of his followers who diverged from Tawhid using the argument of the Quranic “Fasilah” (comma) “Al Aziz Al Hakim (The Mighty, the Wise)”. The study reviews some commentators’ interpretations which aimed to deny the significance of the intercession of Christ because of its contradiction with their understanding of God’s saying: “God does not forgive association with Him”. The paper also addresses the significance of God’s reply to Christ’s answer, what is meant by “The truthful” (Alssadkin) and its significance of Jesus’ intercession for those of his followers who diverged from the path of his message.
