Novel 2H-1-Benzopyran-2-one Derivatives as Potential Antimicrob ial Ag ents

The ethyl ( 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-l-benzopyrane-7-oxy) acetate (2) has been synthesized and then converted into the acid hydrazide derivative (3) which upon its reaction with aldehydes. and ketones yielded the con-esponding Schiff bases ( 4-9). Oxadiazole and thiadiazole derivatives (I 0, 12) have been also prepared by the cyclization reaction of the acid hydrazide (3) under different conditions, Whilst potassium dithio carbazate (11) prepared from stin-ing hydride (3) with CSrKOH at room temperture. The synthesized compounds have been tested for their antibacterial activity
