Reaction of terephthalic acid hydrazide (3) with CS2/ KOH gave 5،5΄ ́-dimercapto[bis-1،3،4- oxadiazol-2-yl]phenyl (4), which was treated with hydrazine hydrate to give 4،4΄ ́ -amino-5،5΄ ́ - mercapto[bis-1،2،4-triazol- 3-yl]phenyl (5), which was treated with 4-substituted benzoic acid give 6،6΄-(4-substituted phenyl)[bis-1،2،4-triazolo{3،4-b}-1،3،4-thiadaizole-3- yl]phenyl (6) and (7). While reaction with CS2/KOH give 6،6΄ - mercapto[bis-1،2،4-triazolo{3،4-b}-1،3،4-thiadaizole-3-yl] phenyl (8). On the other hand, the condensation of compound (5) with aromatic aldehyde, namely, anisaldehyde and 4- chlorobenzaldehyde in absolute ethanol afforded the corresponding Schiff s bases 4،4΄ -( -substituted benzylideneamino)-5،5΄ -mercapto[bis-1،2،4-triazol-3-yl]phenyl (9) and (10), respectively.
