Dynamics of population distribution of a threc-level atom interacting with two coherent fields.

The dynarnics of the way in which atomic population is distributed in a three-level atomic system interacting with two external coherent light fields is investigated in the weakcoupling scheme. There are deep differences in the atomic population distributions depending on the atomic initial conditions. The results are compared with the corresponding results of the same atomic systern interacting witli single quantum field exciting the upper atomic level that are available in the literature. Tlrus, they provide a comparison with the quantum theory of atom-fleld interaction.
