مقارنة سريرية لفعالية ثلاثة من المخدرات الموضعية في التخدير اللبي للرباعيات والارحاء العلوية

ackground & Objective: Usually, dentists search for methods to provide a painless treatment using local anesthesia. The aim of the study is to evaluate and compare the anesthetic efficiency of three anesthetics used in dental practice in Damascus, in both maxillary lateral incisor and first molar. Methods & Materials: Eighty teeth (devided into 40 maxillary lateral incisor and 40 first molar) have been infiltrated with 1.8 mL of 2% lidocaine with 1 : 80,000 epinephrine, 1.8 mL of 4% prilocaine with 1 : 200,000 epinephrine, and 1.8 mL of 2% Mepivacaine with 1:20,000 levonordefrine , at 3 separate appointments spaced at least 1 week apart. The teeth were pulp-tested in 5-minute cycles for a total of 60 minutes. Anesthetic success was determined by obtaining 2 consecutive 80 readings with the electric pulp tester. Chi-square test and ANOVA unilateral variation analysis were used for the statistical study at p <0,05. Results: Success rate in lateral incisor was 90% for 2% lidocaine with 1 : 80,000 epinephrine, 95% for 4% prilocaine with 1 : 200,000 epinephrine, and 88% for 2% Mepivacaine with 1:20,000 levonordrfrine. Success rate in first molars was 85% for 2% lidocaine with 1 : 80,000 epinephrine, 90% for 4% prilocaine with 1 : 200,000 epinephrine, and 93% for 2% Mepivacaine with 1:20,000 levonordrfrine , onset of pulpal anesthesia ranged between (2,8-3,5) in lateral incisor and (3,9-4,7) in first molars. Non of the anesthetic agents provided an hour of pulpal anesthesia. Conclusion: The three anesthetic agents were the same in success rate, onset of pulpal anesthesia and duration of anesthesia
