ackground & Objective: According to the rise of people infected with hepatitis B,C and HIV Viruses, and the leak of data on infection control methods is employed in dental clinics in Syria, So the aim of this study is to investigate infection control knowledge and practices in dental private clinics and dental collages. Methods & Materials: 1300 Self-administered questionnaires distributed to randomly selected dentists working in private clinics in five areas in Syria, and 4thand 5th - year students, and post-graduate students in public and private dental collages. The questionnaire is designed to collect information about participants, such as age, gender, year of graduation, and the questionnaire include a lot of question about infection control . Chi square test was applied with a significance level of P<0.05 Results: Responses to our study was 91.15% , 821 dentist 70.1%, mean age 38.5 year, and 351 students 29.9%, mean age 23.3 year. 92.8% of dentist received hepatitis B immunization in comparison with 98.3% of dental student. Only 63.3% of dentist asked and updating the medical history in comparison with 54.4% of dental student. Only 44.3% of dentist have special training of infection control procedure in comparison with 68.9% of dental student. Infection control measures among dentists working in private clinics, and dental school students, were statistically significant (P= 0.000). Conclusion: this study refer that 4thand 5th - year students, and post-graduate students in public and private dental collages had adequate knowledge of infection control principles. A low level of infection control was registered in private dental clinics. There is a great needed to distribute and observed a standard infection control recommendations in the co-operation between ministry of high education, ministry of health and Syrian dental association
