Novel Broadcast Schemes based on Network Codes for Ad Hoc Networks with Noisy Wireless Links

In this paper we propose novel broadcast schemes for wireless Ad Hoc networks with highly interfered and noisy links. We exploit network coding for disseminating some broadcast packets sent from the same source in the network. We present three broadcast schemes, namely NC1, NC2, and NC3, and compare them with the well known blind flooding scheme. These schemes are simulated and compared in underwater acoustic networks in whichthe wireless channel suffers from issues like noise, delay, and collision. The simulation results verify that using our proposedmethods the performance of broadcasting is significantly improved interms of the average broadcast reachability and energy consumption
