Many wireless protocols wait a small and random amount of time which is called jitter before sending a packet to
avoid high contention and packet collision. In this paper, we study the effect of uniform jitter mechanism and show how the
range of uniform distribution dramatically changes the quality of routes. A metric-based jitter mechanism is proposed in this paper and a closed form expression is derived that enables us to obtain probability of delay inversion for all uniform jitter mechanisms available. Simulation results are also presented to show performance of different jitter mechanisms.
