Investigating the Impacts of Wind Power Penetration in Electrical Networks

Wind power makes up a large proportion of total electricity generation in electrical networks, and is also known as the fastest growing renewable energy resource in the world. Furthermore, global preference of wind power is increasing and therefore, electricity generation using wind energy will be growing in the future. In this regard, many large and small scales wind generation units and wind farms have been utilized in electric power systems. This paper investigates the impacts of wind power penetration in electrical networks. Many issues related to the electrical networks such as modelling, control, planning, operation, scheduling, and management are investigated and evaluated under wind power penetration circumstances. The proposed evaluations, analysis, and discussions provide a comprehensive perspective on wind power applications in electrical networks.
