This paper introduces two virtual decision making units (DMUs) called the ideal DMU and
anti-ideal DMU into the data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the inverse data envelopment analysis
(IDEA). We define an algorithm which is combined frontiers obtained from DEA and IDEA. The
well-known TOPSIS approach ranks DMUs with the index l
j
. The l
j
index is then used as the
evidence of overall assessment of each DMU, based on which overall ranking for all the DMUs can be
obtained. We slightly revised the models so that IDEA and DEA analysis using TOPSIS idea can be
implemented. Mathematics and Computation where data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the inverse
data envelopment analysis and the techniques for order preference ideal solution (TOPSIS) are
integrated in ranking of decision-making units (DMUs).
