of and in aIn this paper, effect of temperature on the rate equations governing population inversion and surface Plasmon
population in a SPASER with a two-level gain medium is investigated. First, using quantum density matrix and
Liouville s theorem, the temperature-dependent rate equations of a SPASER are obtained. Then, by numerical
analysis it is shown that temperature increase has negative effect on surface Plasmon population and
population inversion. In continuation, the possibility of Q-switching in a SPASER is numerically tested. It is
found that, like optical lasers, a SPASER can be put is Q-switching setup and produces high energy pulses of
