In this paper, a multi-objective Genetic Algorithm (moGA) is presented to solve Simple
Assembly Line Balancing problems (SALB). The goal of the proposed approach is to minimize the
number of workstations and the variation of workload in each workstation.
To verify this algorithm, we considered Kilbridge’s SALB problem in two approaches: First, we
developed a multi objective mathematical programming model and solved it using GAMS software.
Secondly, we added one of the objectives to the constraints. Regarding the problem as single
objective, we compare the outputs of this algorithm with the similar prior research (TS-PRP). The
results signify that this algorithm is much better than the previous methods and is much closer to the
exact solution that is produced by GAMS Software
