Improvement of fractal permeability-porosity trends in digital rock samples

Rock physical trends such as permeability-porosity trend are scale invariant and can be applied in hydrocarbon reservoirs from micro to macro scales. Since fractal permeability equations capture heterogeneity of rock porous medium, they are superior to be used for permeability-porosity trend evaluation. In this study, permeability results from two digital samples show that permeability trends are not described by neither classic Kozney-Carman nor fractal trends. Functionality of fractal dimensions to porosity were studied and another derivation of permeability equation was proposed to improve previous trends
