Satellite has been playing an increasingly important role in military and civilian applications. The need of an efficient mathematical model that characterizes the satellite system dynamics is essential for implementing an autopilot system, control algorithms, and other applications. In this paper, identification of the attitude dynamics of satellite is investigated. The challenge of system identification is to predict the parameters of the system and constructs a model that can estimate the system behavior under both normal inputs and disturbance. The recursive least square (RLS) algorithm is used to identify the equivalent linear canonical second order system for each axis at discrete points on references. This method can at best provide biased solution in the presence of additive disturbances (both correlated and white) on the input and the output signals.
