In this work, nano adsorbent MCM-41, was synthesized by a rapid method and
characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The
surfactant-containing ordered mesoporous silica (MCM-41) was modified by a kind
polyaminophenol. Then the modified surfactant-containing MCM-41 was used as an
absorbent in batch solid phase extraction (SPE) to remove the nickel ions from
wastewater samples of oil sites such as Ahwaz 2 and Maroon 2. The influences of the
experimental parameters including pH of the solutions, amounts of nano modified
adsorbent in extracting of nickel cations, and HCl concentration in the elution phase, was
investigated and optimized. Finally, the optimized batch SPE was coupled by flame
atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) for pre-concentration and determination of
nickel ions in the wastewaters of oil factories.
